I plan on getting the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro with a ModMic. Only, I'grand not certain which 3.5 audio jack is merely for audio output and which is for the microphone. Or, practice I not need to worry because the information will exist in the motherboard manual?
Please help!

this visual aid is useful, only i yet don't know what goes where. I'm going to have a mic, headphones, and speakers, and so which get where?
Speakers - continued to:
If you have a typical 2ch or ii.1ch speaker system (where in that location is only one three.5mm jack connecting all the speakers/sub-woofer), you will connect that jack to the Line-Out (usu. green color) at the I/O console of your motherboard located at the back of your instance.
If you have a v.1ch or 7.1ch, with all speakers/sub-woofer having private jacks (no amplifier), follow the instructions/visuals of the mobo's transmission, depending on your chosen motherboard, where each speaker is connected to each of the colored jacks.
Headphones - continued to:
Option A: Connect the three.5mm jack of your headphone to your case'south front end panel Headphone-Out jack, unremarkably located either at the front end or at the elevation (sometimes at the side) of your example. It has usually a headphone icon drawn to a higher place it. This jack of your example will be connected to your motherboard'south ix-pivot Hd Audio header via a cablevision that comes with your case.
Option B: If your speaker system has a Headphone-Out jack, you can as well connect such headphones directly to the speaker's (or amp'due south) Headphone-Out jack. Some monitors too have this out jack where y'all can connect your headphone to.
Mic - connect to:
Option A: Connect the 3.5mm jack of your microphone to your instance's front end panel Mic-In jack, usually located either at the front or at the height (sometimes at the side) of your case. It has commonly a microphone icon drawn above information technology. This jack will also be connected to your motherboard's 9-pin HD Audio header.
Pick B: Connect the 3.5mm jack of your microphone to the Mic-Out (usu. pinkish color) at the I/O console of your motherboard located at the back of your case.

Depends on what motherboard you will be getting. Typically, the iii.5mm audio jacks at the rear panel are color-coded (if not labelled) as such:
For 3x Audio Jacks:
For 6x Audio Jacks:
For case:
Some motherboards practise non accept any color-coding in the sound jack panel such as this:
But it will be appropriately labelled in the motherboard's User Manual:
